Location of Marienhagen in Vöhl
|
Marienhagen is the second largest district of the municipality of Vöhl in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in Hesse . In addition to the town center around the Protestant church, there are two large new building areas. After the Second World War , many expellees were integrated, most of whom came to Marienhagen from the Sudetenland .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1585. However, the discovery of a stone ax from the Younger Stone Age and several barrows from the Bronze Age suggest that the area was settled much earlier. In the 8th or 9th century, the Ehrenburg was built south of the town . The location of the Frankenkirche ruins , built at the beginning of the 8th century at the time of Charlemagne and soon destroyed again in the course of the border disputes between Franconia and Saxony, offers a very beautiful view .
Marienhagen was incorporated into the municipality of Vöhl on January 1, 1974 as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
Culture
Numerous clubs such as gymnastics club, men's choir, women's choir, volunteer fire brigade Marienhagen and old people's club as well as a restaurant with overnight accommodation complete the cultural life in the village.
The community of the Protestant church belongs to the parish of Eder .
