Marktplatz 13 (Weißenburg in Bayern)
The Marktplatz 13 house is a commercial building, a restaurant and a former brewery within the listed old town of the Middle Franconian town of Weißenburg in Bavaria in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-177-270 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.
history
The brewery, which was added in 1516, is attached to the south of the main building from 1428. This makes the “Black Bear” one of the three oldest breweries in Weißenburg. The spring water was drawn from the nearby Koppbrunnen by means of a pipeline. Well-known modifications were made in 1874 (chimney installation ), 1878 (renewal of the damaged western wall) and 1882 (renewal of the roof structure in the brewery and installation of an English malt kiln). In 1906 the brewery was closed.
In the hall of the former brewery there was at times a cinema called "Metropol". In 1927, a tobacco shop replaced the previous tavern (to the right of the entrance door), which was expanded again during the renovation in 1959. In 1959, the Mack and Michel brewery bought the property. In 1987 the city of Weißenburg bought the inn. Plans to integrate the building into the town hall failed. Therefore the building was sold again and renovated by the new owner.
