Markus Miller (born April 8, 1982 in Lindenberg im Allgäu ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper . He works as a soccer coach at the DFB .
Club career
Beginnings, VfB Stuttgart and FC Augsburg
Miller started playing soccer for FC Lindenberg when he was six. In 1995 he moved to FC Wangen 05 and in 1997 to the youth department of VfB Stuttgart . In 2000 he began his professional career at VfB Stuttgart, but was only used there in the second team. After two years in Stuttgart, Miller moved to FC Augsburg .
Karlsruher SC
After only one season in Augsburg, he moved to Karlsruher SC in August 2003 , where Miller completed a total of 183 first and second division games in seven years. During a KSC away game at Hansa Rostock in October 2007, he tore his posterior cruciate ligament . Just 82 days later, after an extensive rehabilitation program, the Allgäu returned to team training and made his comeback in a test match against SpVgg Greuther Fürth .
In October 2008 Miller extended his contract with Karlsruher SC, which was running out at the end of the season, for another year until June 30, 2010. After Karlsruhe was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in summer 2009 , Miller was advised to change clubs because the club contracted him could no longer pay promised premiums and was also dependent on transfer payments. At the same time, the previous substitute goalkeeper Jean-François Kornetzky was built up as the new number one. A change of Miller during the summer break did not materialize - he returned at the beginning of September 2009 to significantly reduced payments in the professional squad of the Karlsruher SC. After the fourth match day of the second division season 2009/10 Miller was again appointed goalkeeper of the first team.
Hannover 96
After his contract expired, Miller moved to Hannover 96 for the 2010/11 season . His shirt number was 14. Miller injured himself and made no game for Hannover until the start of the second half of the 2010/11 season. After a knee injury, he was only number three behind Florian Fromlowitz and Ron-Robert Zieler . Miller came on February 13, 2011 in the Regionalliga Nord (0: 3 against RB Leipzig) for his first appearance in the reserve of the 96ers. In the 2011/12 season he was number 2 behind Zieler after Fromlowitz left.
As of September 5, 2011, Miller was hospitalized for mental exhaustion and was therefore initially unavailable to the team. On November 21, 2011, after successfully treating mental exhaustion, he returned to team training. On December 15, 2011, he played his first competitive game for Hannover 96 in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League against Worskla Poltava . Miller left Hannover 96 at the end of the 2014/15 season and ended his active career a short time later.
