Martin Herkules Rettinger von Wiespach († February 21, 1570 ) was Bishop of Lavant .

Martin Herkules Rettinger von Wiespach was canon of Augsburg and Brixen and was one of the closest collaborators of the Augsburg Bishop Otto Truchseß von Waldburg , on whose behalf he participated in the Augsburg Diet in 1555.

On March 1, 1556 he was appointed Bishop of Lavant by the Salzburg Archbishop Michael von Kuenburg , with papal dispensation he was allowed to keep his Brixen canonical while he had to give up the Augsburg. Due to his theological knowledge, the Archbishop of Salzburg sent him to the Worms Religious Discussion in 1557 , and in 1561 Emperor Ferdinand I appointed him imperial council and confirmed the privileges of his diocese.

As a respected theologian, Rettinger took part in the final phase of the Council of Trent , where he spoke in 1563 about abuses in the celebration of mass. On December 4, 1563, he signed the final documents of the council.

Bishop Rettinger died on February 21, 1570 in St. Andrä and was buried there in the cathedral church (now the collegiate church).
