Martin Oraže (born October 9, 1984 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian ice hockey defender who has been playing in the Alps Hockey League for EK Zell am See since 2017 .

Career

Oraže comes from the youth department of the EC VSV . At the age of 18, the defender was able to fight for a place in the first team and played over 80 Bundesliga games as a U20 player. In 2007 he was Austrian champion with Villacher SV . Meanwhile, Oraže has played over 600 games in Austria's top division in 13 seasons, scoring over 200 points. After only one season at the EC Graz 99ers , Oraže moved to the Vienna Capitals in the summer of 2010 .

At the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Oraže was back under contract with the EC Graz 99ers, but this was dissolved in December 2013 after insufficient performance. In January 2013 he therefore returned to the EC VSV and received a contract until the end of the season. After the season he was signed by the Dornbirn EC . In 2014 he moved to EHC Lustenau and won the Inter-National League with him in 2015 . Two years later he became Slovenian national champion with the HDD Jesenice , which he went to in 2016 . He has been back in Austria since 2017 and competes in the Alps Hockey League with EK Zell am See .

International

In the junior area, Oraže played with the Austrian U18 selection at the World Cup in Division I in 2002 and with the U20 selection in 2003 in Division I and in 2004 in the top division.

With the men's national team , in which he made his debut on November 14, 2006 in the 3-0 defeat in the friendly against Slovakia in Bratislava , he took part in the 2008 World Championships in Division I and in 2009 in the top division when he scored the only Austrian goal in the 1: 7 defeat against Sweden . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 . He was then used in the national team until 2012, but was no longer used in major tournaments.
