Martin Woerdehoff

Martin Wördehoff (born February 26, 1979 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German cyclist , national trainer and head of the cycling discipline in the General German University Sports Association (ADH).

Athletic career

Wördehoff appeared on the stage of international mountain bike racing in 1996 . After a promising entry into the German racing series Grundig Top-Ten-Cup , which later became the BDR-Bundesliga , appearances in the UCI World Cup and at World and European Championships followed . Born in Frankfurt, after the first downhill athletes around the German World Cup winner from 1993, Jürgen Beneke , the native of Frankfurt belonged to a second generation of young German downhill pilots who, however, found it difficult to compare internationally due to the lack of association support . In 2001 Wördehoff ended his active career prematurely and turned to a university degree.

Education

Wördehoff studied sports and economics at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich . The main areas of study were training sciences, sports and health, and employee-oriented corporate management . He graduated as a high school teacher for sports , economics and law - and geography lessons . In addition, he completed a distance learning course at the Academy for Business Administration and Sport BSA .

Parallel to his studies, Wördehoff developed a teaching concept for mountain biking in cooperation with the University of Würzburg . After several years of abstinence from top cycling Wördehoff returned in subsequent years as a coach and official return to competitive sport.

2 × gold, silver and bronze medals at the SEA Games 2007 with Sattayanun Abdulkaree and Thawatchai Masae, among others .
2008 world champion title in the mountain bike marathon with the former European champion in the elite class Hannes Genze and 3rd place with Kerstin Kögler . Vice world champion in the discipline 1er road with the team to Michael Schweizer .
