Matthew Ishaya Audu

Matthew Ishaya Audu (born June 7, 1959 in Rafin-Pa , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jos .

Life

After attending St. James Minor Seminary in Keffi , Matthew Ishaya Audu studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at St. Augustine Major Seminary in Jos . He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Makurdi on June 23, 1984 .

Then Audu was parish vicar in Keffi before he became parish vicar in Lafia in 1986 . From 1988 to 1989 he was pastor in Nassarawa . He then continued his studies at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome , where he obtained his degree in moral theology in 1991 . After returning to his homeland, Matthew Ishaya Audu became Subregens of the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Makurdi , where he also taught moral theology. 1999 Audu at was Pontifical Academy Alphonsian the doctor of theology in moral theology doctorate . From June to December 2000 he was the rain of the St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary in Makurdi.

Pope John Paul II named him the first bishop of Lafia on December 5, 2000 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Nigeria, Archbishop Osvaldo Padilla , donated him episcopal consecration on March 31 of the next year; Co- consecrators were John Onaiyekan , Archbishop of Abuja , and Athanasius Atule Usuh , Bishop of Makurdi.

On January 6, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Jos. The inauguration took place on March 31 of the same year.
