Matthias Grünberg (born March 10, 1961 in Mannheim ) is a German lawyer and judge . He has been Vice President of the Saxon Higher Administrative Court since January 1, 2008 and President of the Saxon Constitutional Court since August 1, 2020 .

Life

Grünberg began his professional career in 1991 in Karlsruhe . After moving to the Saxon State Ministry of Justice on January 1, 1994, the Doctor of Law was appointed judge at the Saxon Higher Administrative Court in August 1998 .

Between May 2000 and October 2004 he headed the department for the legal state examinations in the Saxon State Ministry of Justice . After his appointment as President of the Social Court in Dresden on November 1, 2004, the lawyer took over the office of Vice President of the Saxon Higher Administrative Court on January 1, 2008.

In addition to his work at the Saxon Higher Administrative Court, Grünberg is a lecturer at the chair for public law with special consideration of environmental and technology law at the Technical University of Dresden .

Grünberg was elected President of the Constitutional Court of Saxony on June 10, 2020 in the Saxon state parliament with 98 votes. He took office on August 1, 2020.
