Bernhard Flor

Bernhard Flor (born February 25, 1957 in Bonn ) is a German lawyer and judge . Since 2004 he has been President of the Itzehoe Regional Court . Since May 1, 2008, he has also been President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Constitutional Court .

After graduating from high school, Flor studied law at the University of Kiel and completed his legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein. After passing the second state examination in law, he initially worked as a lawyer in Kiel from 1986 to 1989 . Moreover, Flor was in 1986 at Kiel University with a thesis on constitutional law aspects of democracy and mandate understanding of the Green Dr. jur. PhD. He was then hired as an assessor at the Itzehoe District Court with effect from July 17, 1989 . In April 1991 Flor was appointed judge for life, later he moved to the Itzehoe district court. In 1996, Flor was appointed to the Kiel Ministry of Justice, where he initially worked as a coordinating officer for state and federal parliament issues. As a result, he was the office manager of Justice Ministers Gerd Walter and Anne Lütkes until 2000 . Effective September 1st, Flor was appointed director of the Pinneberg District Court . In 2004 he returned to Itzehoe. On July 30th of that year, the Kiel Ministry of Justice appointed Flor as President of the Itzehoe Regional Court after this position had been vacant for a year. In this function he replaced the later Saxon Minister of Justice Geert Mackenroth. After the state of Schleswig-Holstein had only provided a state constitutional court in the state constitution since 2006, this was set up in Schleswig with effect from May 1, 2008 . The state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein unanimously elected the first members of the state constitutional court at its session on April 23, 2008. In accordance with the nomination, Bernhard Flor was elected President for a period of nine years.
