Monika Köster-Flachsmeyer

Monika Köster-Flachsmeyer (born August 29, 1965 in Dortmund ) is a German judge .

Life

After graduating from high school , which she passed in June 1984, Köster-Flachsmeyer completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk in Hanover before enrolling at the University of Würzburg in October 1986 to study law . In 1988 she moved to Heidelberg University . There she passed her first state examination in 1992. In the summer semester 1992 and in the winter semester 1992/1993 she led student working groups on constitutional law at the University of Rostock . She completed her legal clerkship in Schleswig-Holstein at the public prosecutor's office and the district court of Kiel and, from spring 1993, at the Rostock-Land district administration. After a stint in the legal department of the German-British Chamber of Commerce in London , Köster-Flachsmeyer joined the judicial service of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on February 1, 1995 and was appointed judge on probation .

Köster-Flachsmeyer started out as a judge at the Rostock District Court . Subsequently, interrupted by parental leave, she worked at both the district court and the district court in Rostock and was appointed judge at the district court in Rostock on December 15, 2000 . As a result of her qualifications, she was initially only transferred to the Rostock Higher Regional Court for testing purposes, but then received a permanent position and was finally appointed a judge at the Higher Regional Court on July 12, 2006. At the OLG Rostock, Köster-Flachsmeyer initially remained a judge until 2014. During this time she was also seconded to the Ministry of Justice of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for two and a half years as head of the Personnel and Organization department. On November 14, 2014, she was appointed director of the Schwerin District Court , before she was appointed Vice-President of the Rostock Higher Regional Court on August 3, 2017 , thus returning to her old place of work.

Köster-Flachsmeyer was elected President of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Constitutional Court on May 15, 2020 as the successor to Burkhard Thiele by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Parliament.
