Matthias Looß (born August 17, 1975 in Marienberg ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete . The 1998 Olympian won the Grand Prix in the summer of 1998 .
Career
Looß, who was trained by Uwe Dotzauer among others at the Klingenthal base , has already celebrated a few successes in the youth field. In the 1992/93 season he was German youth champion in Warmensteinach and second in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup . In the winter of 1994/95 he was again German youth champion in Braunlage . On December 10, 1995 Looß reached third in Rovaniemi for the first time the podium in the second-rate Intercontinental Cup . At the end of November 1996, he won his first B World Cup race in Bardufoss .
In the 1996/97 season Loess won his first World Cup points. After he also won his only national medal at the German championships in Baiersbronn in 1997 as third behind Jens Deimel and Ralf Adloff , Looß was appointed to the squad for the 1997 Nordic World Ski Championships . In the individual after the Gundersen method he finished 42nd place, together with Jens Gaiser , Georg Hettich and Jens Deimel he was also sixth with the team.
At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , Looß reached 32nd place in the individual. He also took sixth place with the team together with Jens Deimel, Thorsten Schmitt and Ronny Ackermann . He celebrated his greatest success in the summer of 1998 when he became the overall winner of the two Grand Prix competitions in Wernigerode and Klingenthal .
After the winter of 2000/01, he only started at the German championships in 2001 in Oberhof , where he just missed a medal in fourth in the Gundersen singles. He then ended his career.
Occasionally he works as a jumping judge at competitions within the framework of the Saxon Ski Association.
