biography

The Maulbronn Chamber Choir has been directed by Benjamin Hartmann since 2016 . 1983 by Jürgen Budday founded, he's choir of the monastery Maulbronn , an annual festival in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Maulbronn Monastery . Many of its members are former students of the Evang. Maulbronn seminar .

The focus of the choir is on sacred a cappella music, and it can also be heard annually with an oratorio with top-class soloists at the monastery concerts. In addition to regular invitations to the most important churches in southern Germany, the choir regularly makes guest appearances at larger festivals such as the European Weeks in Passau , the Stuttgart Music Festival , the European Church Music Festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd , the Limburg International Choir Director's Forum and the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Summer . There are also occasional larger tours, most recently several times to South America , South Africa , Namibia , Poland and France . In addition to concerts, the focus here is on meeting singing and non-singing people and is perceived by all choir singers as a special way of traveling (and choral life).

The Maulbronn Chamber Choir appeared repeatedly at competitions. For example, the 1st prize at the German Choir Competition in Regensburg in 1998 in the “Adult Choirs” category and in the same year a competition victory in Prague . In 2009 the ensemble won the 2nd prize (“internationally outstanding”) at the International Chamber Choir Competition in Marktoberdorf . At the International Choir Competition in Malta , the choir was recognized as a two-time category winner and the best choir in the competition. Numerous CDs are available from the Maulbronn Chamber Choir, including the well-known Handel cycle.
