Mauro Vinícius Hilário Lourenço da Silva , called Duda (born December 26, 1986 in Presidente Prudente , State of São Paulo ) is a Brazilian athlete . He is best known as a long jumper . At a height of 1.83 m, his competition weight is 69 kg.

Life

Mauro Vinícius da Silva actually wanted to be a football player, so he enrolled in the São Paulo football school at the age of 14 . Since the age of 16, however, he has concentrated on athletics. His athletics coach at the time was Inaldo Sena. Since 2007 he has mainly trained long jump and is trained by Aristides Junqueira. His association is the Clube de Atletismo BM & FBOVESPA from São Paulo.

With the 4 x 100 meter relay , he became the Brazilian U23 champion in 2006 and won a silver medal at the South American U23 Olympic Games in Buenos Aires . In 2007 he won the Troféu Brasil.

In 2008 he won the Brazilian U23 championship in the long jump. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he was 14th in his qualifying group and failed to qualify for the final. At the Ibero-American Athletics Championships 2010 in San Fernando (Spain) he received the bronze medal in the long jump. His greatest success is winning the gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in 2012 in Istanbul with a width of 8.23 ​​m. In the qualification that he won, he jumped a new Brazilian indoor record with 8.28 m. He thus improved his Brazilian indoor record of 8.04 m from Linz in 2009 . In 2013 he won the 48th South American Athletics Championships in Cartagena (Colombia) with a championship record of 8.24 m. He was able to defend his indoor world championship title in Sopot in 2014 with 8.28 m.
