Maxime "Max" Sauvé (born January 30, 1990 in Chambray-lès-Tours , France ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with a French passport who has been under contract with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League since the 2015/16 season .

Career

Sauvés began his career in the 2005/06 season with the Laurentides Vikings in the lower class junior league QMAAA . In the 2006/07 season and at the beginning of the following season, the attacker was active for the Québec Remparts in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (QMJHL) before moving to league rivals Val-d'Or Foreurs .

In February 2009, the organization of the Boston Bruins took him under contract, which had previously drafted him in the second round of the NHL Draft . After an attractive performance with the Providence Bruins , the farm team of the Boston Bruins, the Canadian was allowed to play a game in the National Hockey League in March 2012 . In March 2013, the Bruins transferred him in exchange for Rob Flick to the league rivals Chicago Blackhawks , where Sauvé received no stakes and was also sent to the AHL farm team , the Rockford IceHogs .

For the 2013/14 season , the left shooter moved within the AHL to the Norfolk Admirals , for whom he scored 14 points in 47 games.

After the hope of a contract extension with the Admirals for the 2014/15 season was not fulfilled, Sauvé moved to Europe and signed a contract until the end of the season with the Kölner Haien from the German ice hockey club after a trial training session, in which he was particularly impressed by his speed League , where he received the jersey number 90 according to the year he was born. After the Haie were unable to qualify for the play-offs after a disappointing main round, it was decided to make a change in personnel and then parted with Sauvé.

In August 2015 it was announced that Sauvé in North America for the season 2015/16 one-year contract with the Hershey Bears , the AHL - farm team of the Washington Capitals signed.

Others

Sauvé comes from a family who loved ice hockey. His father Jean-François completed 326 games in the NHL for the Buffalo Sabers and the Nordiques de Québec . His uncle Bob and cousin Philippe were both successful goalkeepers who played games in the NHL. Philippe Sauvé was most recently under contract with the Hamburg Freezers in the DEL . Maxime Sauvé was born in Chambray-lès-Tours because his father was a professional at the Diables Noirs de Tours at the time. In 1991 Jean-François Sauvé ended his career and returned with his family to Canada ( Boisbriand , Québec ), where Maxime Sauvé also grew up. The attacking player is the fifth French-born professional to make his debut in the NHL, after Antoine Roussel , Cristobal Huet , Philippe Bozon and Stéphane Da Costa .
