Maximilian Schwetz (born January 9, 1991 in Erlangen ) is a German triathlete .

Career

Maximilian Schwetz learned to swim at the age of five and started a swimming career at SSG 81 Erlangen , which he promoted in high-performance sports from 2004.

In 2010 he switched to triathlon and in his first season he made it into Germany's national top ten. After a year and a half, he qualified for the elite European championship in Israel. Since 2012 he has started in the 1st Triathlon Bundesliga and from 2012 to 2013 he started for TuS Griesheim .

He is internationally known as a strong swimmer. On March 17, 2012 Schwetz set a new record for the German Triathlon Union over the 1500 m swim at the European Championship qualification in Saarbrücken (16: 50.2 min).

Since 2013 he has been a member of the German National Triathlon Team (DTU) and since 2014 he has been part of the Bromelain POS Team Saar . His greatest success to date was fourth place at the European Elite Championships in 2014 in Alanya / Turkey.

Schwetz was also able to celebrate successes in team competitions - such as the U23 European Championship title or the Vice European Championship among the elite in 2014.

In June 2015 he was third in the German Sprint Triathlon Championship and in 2016 he was runner-up here.

In 2017 Maximilian Schwetz started in the B-team of the DTU. At the beginning of the 2017 season, he defended himself against the newly introduced structures of the DTU and sued them.

Schwetz attended the Ohm-Gymnasium Erlangen. He has been studying physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) since 2011 and lives in Wallisellen near Zurich.
