Merkezefendi is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Denizli and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Denizli (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . At the end of 2018, Merkezefendi was the second most populous Ilçe in the province. The population density was the highest in the province and was over ten times the provincial value (84.7 inhabitants per km²).
The Ilçe was formed in 2012 by splitting off from the central district. It was made up of 42 districts (Mahalles), two parishes ( Belediye ) and six villages ( Köy ). Merkezefendi borders on Sarayköy to the north and northwest , Babadağ to the southwest, Pamukkale to the west and Tavas to the south .
It is named after the Halveti Sheikh Merkez Efendi.
