Çameli is a town in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Denizli and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Denizli (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . Çameli is located about 107 km southeast of the center of Denizli . At the end of 2018, the Ilçe was ranked 11th among the most populous Ilçe in the province (population statistics by updating → ADNKS / ABPRS). In 1953 the then district was re-established and, according to the logo, received the status of a Belediye (municipality) in the same year .
Brief description
The district or the now identical city is located in an earthquake risk zone in the western Taurus Mountains and includes the peaks of Gökpınar Dağı (2087 m), Yaylacık Tepesi (2140 m), Yalnızca Tepesi (2030 m), Değirmentaşı Tepesi (1954 m), and İnek Başı Tepesi (1847 m). The highest point of the district is 2303 m high on the higher peaks of the western Taurus Mountains, the lowest point is the Kolak valley at 750 m. There is a relatively cool Mediterranean mountain climate with snow in winter. 75% of the area is forested, spruce, juniper, larch and oak are typical, along with typical Mediterranean macchia.
Well-known products of the region are trout, apples, beans, potatoes and nuts, especially walnuts.
