Acıpayam is a city in the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Denizli and at the same time a district of the Büyükşehir belediyesi Denizli (metropolitan municipality / metropolitan province ) created in 2012 . Acıpayam is located about 55 km southeast of the provincial capital Denizli and was the fourth largest Ilçe in this metropolitan community at the end of 2018.
After the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, a tribe of the Turkish Seljuks settled near the two mountains Eşeler Dağı and Elmadağ . First Acipayam belonged to Burdur , in 1871 the district of Denizli Province was added.
In the district is the Dodurgalar Keloğlan Mağarası , a stalactite cave with many stalactites , stalagmites and natural columns. It is believed that the cave was formed by waterfalls over 10 million years ago. Bats also live there.
