action

Eight-year-old Christian has lived with his grandparents since his mother died. When grandma falls ill, grandfather Meschka is of the opinion that he can no longer adequately care for the boy. In order to solve the problem, Meschka and his grandson set out on a winter morning from their local Erzgebirge village to the Baltic Sea , where Christian's aunt lives. Meshka thinks that the boy is better off with her. But the grandson does not share this opinion at all and reacts accordingly reluctantly. In the course of the journey and triggered by encounters with a wide variety of people, grandfather and grandchildren develop a new relationship with one another, which also calls into question the decision about the boy's future.
