The Messerschmitt Bf 161 was a Messerschmitt Bf 110 B modified as a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft with a fuselage bow extended by about 1 m to accommodate photo equipment. Two 960 hp Daimler-Benz DB 600A engines served as drive . Only two prototypes were built. The model did not go into production because the Reich Aviation Ministry decided in favor of the Dornier Do 17 .
