Michael Damgaard Nielsen (born March 18, 1990 in Rødby ) is a Danish handball player who plays for the German Bundesliga club SC Magdeburg .

Career

Michael Damgaard played for Rødby HK, Håndboldklubben Maribo / Hunseby (HMH), BK Ydun Håndbold and GOG Svendborg TGI before joining the Tvis Holstebro team . With Holstebro he reached third place in the EHF European Cup in the 2012/13 season . The 1.92 meter tall back player has been running for SC Magdeburg since the 2015/16 season , with whom he signed a two-year contract. With the SCM, he won the DHB Cup in 2016 .

Damgaard has played 78 appearances for the Danish national team so far , in which he scored 194 goals. He took part with Denmark in the 2015 World Cup in Qatar . He won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

Michael Damgaard's older brother Allan is also a handball player and plays for the Tvis Holstebro team.
