Michael Davies (born December 10, 1986 in Chesterfield , Missouri ) is an American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with EHC Linz from the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

Career

Davies began his career in the 2004/05 season with the Springfield Jr. Blues in the American Junior League North American Hockey League , before he was active the following season with the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League . Between 2006 and 2010, the attacker was on the ice for the university team of the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the Big Ten Conference , which is part of the NCAA's gaming operations .

In April 2010 he was signed by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the American Hockey League , who transferred him to league rivals Chicago Wolves without a job . There graduated Davies in the 2010/11 season 49 games in the AHL and 8 games in the East Coast Hockey League for the Gwinnett Gladiators , the former farm team of Wolves . The American was able to establish himself as a regular in the Wolves' squad for the next three seasons .

In the summer of 2014, the striker decided to move to Europe and signed a contract with the Düsseldorfer EG from the German Ice Hockey League . After a successful start to the 2014/15 season as a team-internal top scorer of the DEG, an investigation by NADA was opened against him in December 2014 because of a suspected doping using metabolism-enhancing drugs. After there had already been abnormalities at Davies the month before because of the long-term use of a medical preparation, but according to the club this had turned out to be "harmless", the player was after this new incident due to disregard of internal agreements both as prescribed by NADA) and excluded from training. The US-American contradicted the statements of the club in a message via his lawyer, according to which he had taken a drug prescribed by the team doctor at the time of the doping test and thus did not contradict any agreements. The striker then decided to open the B sample .
In March 2015, a three-month ban was announced over Davies. But he was immediately eligible to play again, as the provisional suspension since December 8, 2014 was offset against this suspension.

In June 2015 Davies switched to the Hamburg Freezers within the DEL . After the end of the 2015/16 season, he left Hamburg for the Augsburg Panther .

In November 2018 he moved to Austria to the EHC Linz .
