Michael Lippold

Michael Lippold (born October 18, 1970 in Regensburg ) is a German actor and theater director .

Life

He is a son of the German ancient historian Adolf Lippold . Michael Lippold completed an acting training at the University of Music and Theater in Bern from 1992 to 1996 .

He made his debut at the Augsburg Theater in 1996 as Camille Desmouslins in Danton's Death and in the title role in Hamlet . After two years as an ensemble member in Augsburg, he played in the ensemble at the Konstanz Theater from 1998 to 2000 and made a guest appearance at the Schauspielhaus Zürich (1998/1999 season). From 2002 to 2004 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Munich Volkstheater . There he played Aaron in Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus (2002, directed by Christian Stückl ), Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet (2003, directed by Nuran David Calis ) and the fool in Was ihr wollt (2004, directed by Jorinde Dröse ).

From the Munich Volkstheater he was hired by the director of the Bavarian State Theater, Elmar Goerden, to be his artistic director at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , where Lippold remained a permanent member of the ensemble from 2005 to 2010. He was seen in productions by Elmar Goerden, Lisa Nielebock , Wilfried Minks , Armin Holz , Jorinde Dröse , Anne Lenk and Anna Bergmann .

For the title role in the world premiere of Genannt Gospodin by Philipp Löhle (2007, director: Kristo Šagor ), he was nominated by critics as Young Actor of the Year. The production was invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage plays in 2008 .

Lippold has been working as a freelance actor since 2010. In 2016 he played in Urban Prayers Ruhr at the Ruhrtriennale under the direction of Johan Simons .

Michael Lippold has also worked as a theater director since 2010. He made his directorial debut at the Bochum off-stage Rottstr 5 Theater with the surrealistic doomsday play The Disneykiller by Philip Ridley , which received national attention. As a result, he staged at the Schauspielhaus Bochum as part of the authors' festival Without Everything and the world premiere of Böses Mädchen by Lothar Kittstein at the Bonn Theater (2011). The German-language premiere of Deep in a Dark Forest by the American author Neil LaBute (2012) and Ödön von Horváth's classic Kasimir and Karoline at the opening of the 2012/2013 season in Bonn's Halle Beuel followed in Bonn. Lippold's world premiere of Csába Mikós Die Vaterlosen at the Regensburg Theater was invited to Kortárs Drámafesztivál 2014, the festival for contemporary drama in Budapest. Using the example of a family, the production shows the socio-political change and the ideological radicalization of Hungary since the end of the Second World War. In 2016, Lippold is directing Images of your great love at the Landestheater Coburg , a stage adaptation of the posthumously published last novel by Wolfgang Herrndorf .

Lippold also works as a playwright . The drama Ute, die Gute, which he wrote , a new poetry of the life of Kriemhild's mother inspired by the Nibelungenlied , which he staged in 2011 at the Rottstr 5 Theater , was shown at the 2012 NRW Theatertreffen. In 2013 he realized the theater project Too late! Together with the author Lothar Kittstein . Too late! Too late! , which was created on the basis of research and improvisations with actors and shows the mechanisms of excessive demands and the coaching industry. The production was nominated for the Cologne Theater Prize 2013 and could be seen at the Theater im Bauturm until 2016 . In 2016, a new production of the play by the theater promoter Kempf Theatergastspiele toured through several German cities. For the Konzert Theater Bern Lippold wrote a new version of JM Barrie's classic novel Peter Pan , which he brought to the stage of the Bern City Theater in December 2015 together with the Basel art-pop band The bianca Story .

In addition to his work for the theater, Lippold was also seen in the cinema and television. He played in the films Der Untergang (Director: Oliver Hirschbiegel ), The Last Train (Director: Joseph Vilsmaier and Dana Vávrová ) and Der deutsche Freund (Director: Jeanine Meerapfel ). He also works as a speaker for radio productions.
