Michel Sardou (singer)
Michel Charles Sardou ( [ miʃɛl saʁdu ] ) (born January 26, 1947 in Paris ) is a French composer and interpreter .
Life
Michel Sardou has been a singer since 1967. His best-known songs “La maladie d'amour”, “En chantant” and “Les lacs du Connemara” are now part of the canon of French music. In 2001, Sardou acquired the Paris theater at Porte St. Martin and appeared there at regular intervals as an actor until he withdrew from this engagement in 2003. As an actor, he rarely appeared in film and television. In 1987 he took on the leading role in Cross - Two tough professionals .
Familiar
Michel Sardou's parents are the singer Fernand Sardou (1910-1976) and the actress Jackie Rollin ( Jackie Sardou ) (1921-2000). Sardou was married three times and has four children and now four grandchildren. He was married to his first wife Françoise Pettré, with whom he had two daughters Sandrine (1970) and Cynthia (1973), from 1965 to 1977. From 1977 to 1998 Sardou was married to Elisabeth Haas (Babette). The marriage has two sons, Romain Sardou , who is a successful novelist in France, and Davy Sardou , an actor. The third marriage he entered into in 1999 with Anne-Marie Périer, Elle's editor-in-chief, was signed by Nicolas Sarkozy , then mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine .
plant
After Johnny Hallyday, he is the most successful and at the same time most controversial chansonnier in France . His work is characterized by a wide range of music and content. In addition to love songs (“La maladie d'amour”), Sardou was best known for his chansons with socio-political texts. Particularly heated debates sparked off songs in the mid- 1970s in which he took a stand against celibacy , colonialism and misunderstood development aid , or for the death penalty and bullfighting . In other texts he paints the picture of a friend of the Americans, Irish and Poles, an enemy of the Germans, English, communism, Gaullism and Parisian centralism.
When asked about his lyrics, Michel Sardou specified that he saw himself as an artist who wanted to stimulate thought. A chansonnier is like an actor. You wouldn't blame the latter for his roles, but always know that he was playing a role.
While he produced 300 songs and 24 studio albums in France and always completed sold-out tours, he remained largely unknown abroad - with the exception of the French-speaking countries Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada and the French-speaking part of Switzerland.
He wrote the music for his chansons initially with Michel Fugain , and later with Jacques Revaux and Pierre Delanoë . He writes most of the texts and arrangements himself, often in collaboration with Didier Barbelivien .
Wencke Myhre sang the German version of his title “Le temps des colonies” (“Don Pedro's wedding night”). Howard Carpendale interpreted the title "Je vole" in German ("I go").
