Miharu Imanishi ( Japanese 今 西 美 晴 , Imanishi Miharu ; born May 20, 1992 in Ujitawara ) is a Japanese tennis player .

Career

Miharu Imanishi started playing tennis at the age of six. She reached the quarter-finals at the Japanese elementary school championships, came third at the middle school championships, won the high school championships in singles and, at the age of 18, achieved bronze in singles and doubles at the junior championships. After graduating from high school, she joined the Shimadzu company in April 2011 . After further victories at Japanese amateur championships, she began her professional career on April 1, 2014.

Imanishi primarily plays on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour , where she has won five singles and three doubles so far. She achieved her best position so far in the single world rankings in May 2018 with place 187 and in the double world rankings with place 251 in September 2019.

Imanishi played her first professional match in September 2008 in Kyoto . She won her first match in Komoro in 2010 . In 2011 she won her first tournament at the US $ 10,000 tournament in Mie . She caused a stir with her semi-finals at the $ 25,000 tournament in Mkinohara , where she defeated the top 300 players, Ksenia Lykina and Julia Glushko , before losing to Alexa Glatch in the semi-finals . Her greatest success to date was winning the title of the $ 25,000 tournament in Buxoro , Uzbekistan , where she defeated Nigina Abduraimova 7: 5 and 7: 5 in the final .

On the WTA Tour , Imanishi competed for the first time in the qualification for the HP Japan Women's Open Tennis 2012 , where she won her first round match against Rika Fujiwara 7: 5 and 6: 2, but lost her second round match against the top placed Swede Johanna in the qualification Larsson just in three sets with 6: 1, 6: 7 6 and 0: 6. In qualifying for the BMW Malaysian Open 2014 , Duan Yingying clearly failed in the second qualifying round in two sets with 0: 6 and 1: 6. In qualifying for the Toray Pan Pacific Open 2014 , she also failed in the second round to Jarmila Gajdošová in three sets.

Miharu Imanishi took part twice in qualifying for a Grand Slam tournament. At the US Open 2014 she failed in her first qualifying match against the Czech Denisa Allertová in three sets with 3: 6, 7: 6, 3 and 4: 6. At the Australian Open 2015 she was defeated in the first qualifying round by Andrea Hlaváčková 3: 6 and 4: 6.
