Mike Kennedy (born April 13, 1972 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played in the NHL for the Dallas Stars , Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders . In the DEL he was active for the Munich Barons , the Adler Mannheim and the Iserlohn Roosters . In the 1990s he was also active as a professional inline hockey player in the North American Roller Hockey International .
Career
The 1.85 meter tall center began his career with the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Canadian Junior League WHL , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft as 97th in the fifth round of the Minnesota North Stars .
First, the right-shooter was used with the Kalamazoo Wings , a farm team in the International Hockey League , after the relocation of the North Stars to Dallas , Texas , he played in the 1994/95 season for the first time in the NHL. After three years with the Dallas Stars, where he quickly became a regular player, Kennedy was transferred to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1997 , for which he was only on the ice 13 times. At his last NHL station, the New York Islanders, Kennedy only completed one game, so that in 1999 he moved to Germany to the Munich Barons.
The Canadian won the German championship with the Barons in his first DEL season , and from 2002 to 2004 he played for Adler Mannheim. For the 2004/05 season he moved to Leksands IF in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan . Towards the end of the season, the Iserlohn Roosters signed him to replace Brian Gionta , who could not start his contract for family reasons. Kennedy completed 13 games for the Roosters. From 2005 to 2008, the Canadian played on an amateur basis with the Dundas Real McCoys in the OHA Senior League.
