Career
Mike Santorelli began his career as a hockey player in the 2003/04 season with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the sixth round as a total of 178th player by the Nashville Predators . First, however, he played for three years for the ice hockey team of Northern Michigan University . In the summer of 2007, the Canadian was appointed to the squad of Nashville's farm team from the American Hockey League , the Milwaukee Admirals , for which he played all 80 regular season games, scoring 42 points, including 21 goals.
After Santorelli began the 2008/09 season again with the Admirals in the AHL, he was appointed to their squad by the Predators during the season and made his debut in the National Hockey League .
On August 5, 2010 he was transferred to the Florida Panthers in a swap , where he was a regular player for the following three seasons. He ended the 2012/13 season in the dress of the Winnipeg Jets , which had previously selected the Italian-Canadian from the waiver list . In July 2013 he was signed as a free agent by the Vancouver Canucks . After a year in Vancouver, his expiring contract was not renewed, so he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in July 2014 .
In February 2015, the Maple Leafs and Cody Franson handed him over to the Nashville Predators and received in return Olli Jokinen , Brendan Leipsic and a first-round vote for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft . So Santorelli returned to the team that originally drafted him. His contract, which ran until the end of the season, was not extended in Nashville, so he joined the Anaheim Ducks as a free agent in August 2015 . A year later Santorelli moved to the Swiss National League A for Genève-Servette HC , where he signed a two-year contract. In October 2016, however, he asked for it to be terminated, as he ended his active career for health reasons.
