Access to the mini museum

The Minimuseum is a museum on the northern outskirts of Soller , municipality of Vettweiß in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Düren . With a floor space of 4 m², it claims to be the smallest museum in the world.

When the intersection of federal highway 56 and county road 28 was expanded in 1981, the remains of a Roman aqueduct from the 2nd century were discovered. It led from the headwaters of the Ellebach to the surrounding towns and to the village of Soller.

The water pipe at that time is covered with flat bricks. A second pipe lies in a tub made of concrete . The channel is approx. 18 cm high and covered with semicircular reddish-colored bricks . A kink shaft was also found.

In order to preserve these historical fragments, the Düren district and the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn decided to build a "mini museum" with a size of only approx. 2 × 2 m. From the outside there is only a staircase that leads down and is surrounded by a railing. Access is possible after being given a key.
