The Citadel Museum is located in Jülich in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

The museum is located in the Jülich Citadel , one of the best-preserved fortresses of the early modern period .

You can visit the fortress itself and an exhibition on the history of the complex in the 16th century up to the abandonment of the fortress in the 19th century and the history of the Jülich region. Stagings such as the workplace of the architect Alessandro Pasqualini , the presentation of noble table culture in the former palace kitchen and the spectacular weapons collection are highlights for the visitors.

The museum was established in 1998 after the rooms provided for it had been extensively renovated. The collection of the artist Johann Wilhelm Schirmer is also housed here.
