Mistříňanka [ ˈmistr̝̊iːˌɲaŋka ] is a brass band from the South Moravian region in the Czech Republic . It is under the direction of Antonín Pavluš . Characteristic for Mistříňanka is the playing of virtuoso Moravian brass music in a small ensemble, which is supplemented by solo interludes.

history

Mistříňanka was founded in 1967 on the initiative of Josef and Antonín Pavluš , Antonín is the conductor to this day. The name of the formation is derived from the place name Mistřín, a district of Svatobořice-Mistřín in Jihomoravský kraj . In 1974 Mistříňanka won the “Golden Flugelhorn” in the competition for brass bands of Czechoslovakia in Kyjov under the baton of Josef Frýbort from Kyjov . This success opened the way for Mistříňanka to the west, which was a specialty for private brass bands in the Eastern Bloc. Besides Mistříňanka, only Jan Slabák's Moravanka was allowed to perform in Western Europe and the USA at that time. The band subsequently also won first prize at the music festival in Suhl in the GDR , where they went on their first trip abroad.

With her music, Mistříňanka ties in with the tradition of Moravian traveling musicians and minstrels with their masterly skills. The band's program is characterized by authentic songs and folk music from Moravian Slovakia . The band and especially the singers perform in Moravian costumes. Mistříňanka not only plays older z. B. by Metoděj Prajka , but also new tone poems by brass music composers who draw from the folk music tradition of Moravian Slovakia. These include, above all, compositions by Miloslav Procházka and the Kapellmeister Antonín Pavluš .

Since the 1970s, Mistříňanka has made appearances on radio and television, e. For example, in the Czech programs “Zpívá celá rodina” (The whole family sings), “Všichni se ptají, komu to hrají” (Everyone asks who they play for), “Sejdeme se na Vlachovce” (We meet at Vlachovka ) and in New Year's Eve programs on Czech television. Mistříňanka appeared twice as a guest in the Karl Moik programs Musikantenstadl , on GDR television she appeared in the program Ein Kessel Buntes .

Several productions have been awarded the "Golden Record" from Supraphon . Mistříňanka has produced a total of 55 sound carriers, as well as videos and DVDs.

Mistříňanka has performed abroad in the USA, Austria , Germany, the Netherlands , Switzerland , Slovakia , Belgium , France and Luxembourg and took part in various international competitions.

Top musicians emerged from Mistříňanka, some of whom lead their own formations today, such as B. Zdeněk Gurský ( Gloria marching band ) or Miloslav R. Procházka . Mistříňanka has its own music publisher and recording studio.

Some former, deceased members are L. Fojtík, J. Lukeš, J. Náplava, J. Novotný, J. Paška, S. Pěnčík and K. Výlet.
