The Mittagberg (also called Mittag for short ) is a 1,451  m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps . It is located immediately south of Immenstadt and is part of the Nagelfluhkette and the Nagelfluhkette nature park . Its notch height is at least 31 meters, its dominance 500 meters, with the Bärenköpfle being the reference mountain .

Surname

Seen from Immenstadt, the sun is above the summit at noon according to the time of the sun , so the mountain indicates noon , which is what gave it its name.

Ascent

There are several hiking trails , some of which lead up to the summit. The crossing of the Nagelfluhkette begins or ends here .

Development

A double chairlift leads from Immenstadt in two sections to the summit. In winter the mountain is also accessible by ski lifts . A 5.1 km long toboggan run leads from the summit to Immenstadt.

Among other things, there is a VHF broadcasting mast from Deutsche Telekom at the middle station of the cable car that broadcasts RSA radio on the frequency 93.0 MHz for Immenstadt and the surrounding area.

Mountain mass

The mountain mass on the Mittagberg takes place every year at the beginning of August at the summit cross. It is organized by the traditional costume association D'Älpler from Immenstadt and the parish council of Immenstadt-Bühl-Rauhenzell and accompanied musically by a delegation from the Immenstadt town band.
