The Mitteldeutsche Kammerorchester is a freelance chamber orchestra for symphonic music of the 18th and 19th centuries, founded in 1987 .

history

The Central German Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1987 at the suggestion of concertmaster Andreas Hartmann and KMD Wolfgang Kupke by students from the Liszt School of Music Weimar . The focus of the program was symphonic music of the 18th and 19th centuries and the accompaniment of oratorical literature . The founding musicians sit today u. a. at the desks of the MDR Symphony Orchestra , in the Gewandhaus Orchestra , in the Staatskapelle Weimar , the Staatskapelle Halle and the Magdeburg Philharmonic .

Despite the obligations as a choral symphonic accompaniment orchestra, the musicians also develop pure orchestral programs for various concert series of the Central German Chamber Orchestra.

The Central German Chamber Orchestra was a guest in the Cologne Philharmonic , the Magdeburg Cathedral , the Schauspielhaus Berlin , the main church Sankt Michaelis (Hamburg) , the Herderkirche Weimar , the Frauerkirche Dresden , as well as at the " Barockfest " Würzburg , the Walkenried cloister concerts , the Braunschweiger " Chamber Music Podium ”, the Thuringian Bach Weeks and the Königslutter Cathedral Concerts .

Together with the Thomanerchor Leipzig , the Central German Chamber Orchestra organized the cyclical performance of the Bach cantatas in the Leipzig Thomaskirche . The orchestra also accompanied winners of the International Bach Competition in the Leipzig Gewandhaus . There is also a further collaboration with the Leipzig Oratorio Choir, the Saxon Vocal Ensemble and the trumpeter Ludwig Güttler .

In addition to radio and television recordings , there are also CD recordings with the Central German Chamber Orchestra.
