Montevideo (TV show)

Montevideo was a weekly program that ran on ORF 1 on Sunday from 5:10 pm to 6:00 pm in 1994 . The motto “The program with the viewer” was to be understood as meaning that a viewer visited the living room-like studio every week. 22 programs were broadcast. The program idea came from Oliver Baier and Stefan Ruzowitzky .

The permanent participants in the program were the orchestra under the direction of Helmut Sommer, the Tonne aka Clemens Haipl , Mr. Ralph aka Gerald Votava and Oliver Baier. Herbert Knötzl was featured again and again in the many contributions . The whole program was only recorded by a hand-held camera that was operated by "Heidi". Herbert Knötzl, Gerald Votava and Clemens Haipl are the three main project managers of Project X, which is broadcast on FM4 .

The show was characterized by extremely bizarre humor and had only a few fixed points. In addition to a game in which the next viewer is determined, there was always the news from the ORF shop . A press review was later replaced by the editorial meeting . At the end of the program, “He” always spoke to those involved and warned them that the program would end.

Despite the unusual camera work (which caused complaints) and the non-widespread humor, the show was very popular and won a Romy . While the main project managers of Project X have still remained true to the bizarre humor, Oliver Baier has abandoned this line and, for example, moderates the program What's New?

Star guests were invited to each program, and they came to visit mainly for promotion. Guests were among others:

In addition, there were frequent guest appearances by Austrian (TV) celebrities such as:

The series has been repeated in full on the Austrian special-interest channel ORF III since January 2, 2016 .
