Mord im Watt is a German TV film directed by Judith Kennel in 2011. It is the sixth episode of the crime series Unter Otherbedingungen with Natalia Wörner in the lead role.

action

The youngster Marek Jankowsky is found dead in the mud flats. On the seventeenth birthday of her son, of all times, Commissioner Jana Winter has to deliver the sad news that her son has been murdered. Someone exposed him naked and tied to the sea, where he drowned.

Marek Jankowsky was no stranger to the police and, despite his youth, had a considerable criminal record. Before the investigators can deal with the injured by Jankowsky, they are made aware of a similar murder case in the Hamburg area of responsibility. Exactly a year ago, a man was also murdered there in the same way. However, the man was already 60 years old and wealthy. The Hamburg colleagues Erik Nielsen and Cem Ergün are certain that both cases are about the same perpetrator.

Over the next few days, the colleagues in Schleswig and Hamburg investigate together and find out that both victims had committed offenses against children and did not have to answer to the courts for it. Jana Winter therefore sees the perpetrator as a justice fanatic. After extensive research, there is a reference to a similar murder case in Denmark 10 years ago. At that time, a trust teacher was drowned in the mudflats who had assaulted a boy who then took his own life. Jana Winter finds out that the daughter of his Hamburg colleague Erik Nielsen was also taught by this teacher. So it is incomprehensible to her why Nielsen did not mention this case when he certainly knew about it. She wants to confront Nielsen, but an urgent operation intervenes. After various clues, the police are on the trail of a suspect. While the man is being arrested and interrogated, Commissioner Winter finds another dead person: Vincent Koffer, an accomplice of Marek Jankowsky. So the just arrested is eliminated as the perpetrator and Jana Winter concentrates again on Nielsen. This now notices that the clever inspector has seen through him and she has to fear for her life. However, Nielsen's colleague had long suspected him of taking the law into their own hands and so Jana Winter can come to the rescue.

Reviews

Rainer Tittelbach from Tittelbach.tv wrote: “Even 'Under other circumstances' discovered the charm of the Scandinavian connection for itself. A Danish colleague comes into play with whom Jana Winter starts an affair. As always, story and aesthetics come together in this ZDF crime series. Great team, convincing actors, varied script, sensitive direction. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best possible rating (thumbs up) and found: "Literally immersed in the case".

Jakob Bokelmann atquotemeter.de was of the opinion: "The excursion into the thriller area was a success, although the threshold of the script can perhaps be set a little lower in the future without losing subtle charm." It shows "A high density of tension without intrusiveness, Darkness without platitude and an ever-present subliminal threat sweep the audience away. Under the direction of Judith Kennel, impressive landscapes were created which, in their barreness, radiate threatening power and force of nature and visualize the constant threat. "
