Muleby is a village in the coalesced settlement area of Sorthat-Muleby on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea . The settlement area with 512 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) is in the parish of Nyker ( Nyker Sogn ), which until 1970 belonged to Harde Vester Herred in what was then Bornholms Amt . With the dissolution of the Harden structure, the parish was included in the Hasle municipality, and after a referendum on January 1, 2003, the municipality was merged with other municipalities into the Bornholm regional municipality . Between 2003 and 2007 it was independent and since January 1st 2007 it belongs to the Hovedstaden region .

Sorthat-Muleby is located about five kilometers north of Rønne and about three kilometers south of Hasle on Bornholm's west coast.

Industry

The Hasle Klinker- og Chamotttestfabrik existed in the village from 1843 to around 1997. In the 1950s it was Bornholm's largest employer with up to 1200 employees.
