Østerlar's church and bell tower |
Østerlars is a place on Bornholm with currently 237 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It is five kilometers north of Østermarie . The nearest coastal town is Gudhjem on the east side of the island.
Attractions
- The Østerlars Church is the largest of the four Bornholm round churches .
- The Bornholm Medieval Center is behind the round church. The Medieval Center holds medieval markets every year and demonstrates the art of falconry and cannon shooting.
- The old station building of Alminding – Gudhjem Jernbaneselskab (AGJ) is now a school.
Infrastructure
Østerlars is a small parish with 10 to 15 streets. The private radio station Bornholms Stemme (German: Bornholms Voice), which gave its name to a film of the same name by director Lotte Svendsen , is located near the medieval center.
The place has a communal school and a private school. There is also a supermarket and a large number of painters, ceramists , musicians, writers and other artists.
