The municipality of Pelechuco is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality Pelechuco is one of two municipalities in the province of Franz Tamayo and is located in the western part of the province. It borders on the Republic of Peru to the west, the province of Bautista Saavedra to the east , and the Municipio Apolo to the north .

The municipality has 71 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Pelechuco with 981 inhabitants in the central part of the district. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Pelechuco is located in the northern part of the Bolivian Cordillera Central . The mean average temperature of the region is 5 ° C, the annual precipitation is about 750 mm (see climate diagram). The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only insignificantly between 2 ° C in June / July and 6 ° C in October to December.
