The municipality of San Buenaventura is a district in the Bolivian department of La Paz .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of San Buenaventura is one of two municipalities in the province of Abel Iturralde and is located in the southern part of the province. It borders the province of Franz Tamayo to the west and south, the Beni department to the east , and the municipality of Ixiamas to the north .
The district comprises a total of 33 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is San Buenaventura with 3,089 inhabitants in the eastern part of the municipality. (2012 census)
geography
The municipality of San Buenaventura is located on the western edge of the Moxos plain , with over 100,000 km² one of the largest wetlands on earth; the predominant form of vegetation in the Moxos plain is the tropical savannah . The climate in the San Buenaventura region is tropical hot and humid all year round, but it can also get relatively cool in winter due to the Surazo (cold wind from the south). The annual precipitation is almost 2000 mm, with monthly precipitation of around 300 mm in January and February, and less than 100 mm in the months of August to September. The average monthly temperatures are all year round between 23 ° C and 28 ° C (see climate diagram Rurrenabaque).
