The area of the northern Baaralb and Danube near Immendingen is a protected area (SG number DE-8017-341) designated by ordinance of January 1, 2005 by the Freiburg Regional Council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive ) in the south of the German state of Baden-Württemberg .

The approximately 2,529 hectare (ha) protected area "Northern Baaralb and Danube near Immendingen" belongs to the natural areas of Baar and Baaralb and Upper Danube Valley .
Its 15 sub-areas are located in the municipalities of Geisingen , Immendingen , Talheim and Tuttlingen in the Tuttlingen district (2,301.5 ha) and Bad Dürrheim and Donaueschingen in the Schwarzwald-Baar district (252.9 ha).

The protected area is described as the " Danube valley with adjacent meadows from Gutmadingen to Möhringen , extensive beech forests with relict sites on the Albtrauf as well as on the plateau, species-rich grasslands and large hay meadows".

Protection purpose
Essential protective purpose is the preservation of many natural river course with important fishing grounds, excellent lean lawn with numerous relict species ( ZYGAENA FAUSTA , book finial , narcissus anemone and rosemary-daphne ), Stone Age Fliehburgen and the Danube Sinkhole .
