The FFH area Südliche Baaralb is located in the south of Baden-Württemberg and is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . It was designated in 2005 by the Freiburg Regional Council.

The approximately 1368 hectare protected area Südliche Baaralb lies in the natural areas of Hegaualb and Baaralb and Upper Danube Valley . The area extends over the communities of Engen in the district of Konstanz, Blumberg and Hüfingen in the Schwarzwald-Baar district and Geisingen in the district of Tuttlingen .

The nature of the landscape of the protected area is largely shaped by the Aitrach valley and its side valleys. The area also includes the Stoberg and Fürstenberg witness mountains , the Längewald near Hondingen and some meadows around Riedböhringen.
