NGC 1957 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E3 in the constellation Hare north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 140 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter. NGC 1957 may form a group with NGC 1954 and IC 2132 .
The object was discovered by Francis Leavenworth on December 11, 1885 .
