NGC 1964 is a bar-spiral galaxy with pronounced spiral arms of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Rabbit in the northern sky . It is an estimated 67 million light years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years across.
The galaxy is the namesake of the NGC 1964 group , which also includes NGC 1979 , IC 2130 and IC 2137 .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on November 20, 1784 .
