NGC 2131 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble-type IBm in the constellation Lepus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 67 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 20, 1835 .
