NGC 3378 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Antila in the southern sky . It is an estimated 222 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
The object was discovered on February 1, 1835 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
