NGC 3381 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB / P in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 72 million light years from the Milky Way .

The object was discovered on March 28, 1786 by the astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
