Nashville is a city and county seat of Washington County, Illinois in the south of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2000 the population was 3,147. The Assistant Judge of the Supreme Court , Harry Blackmun , was born in 1908 in Nashville.

Nashville's geographic coordinates are 38 ° 21 ' N , 89 ° 23' W (38.348076, -89.381660). The place is on the eastern edge of the township named after her , at the intersection of Illinois State Route 15 (in an east-west direction; Main Street or East St. Louis Street ) and Illinois Route 127 (in a north-south direction, Mill Street ). In addition, the Missouri-Illinois Railroad and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad (today the CSX Transportation route ) crossed here, with a connecting curve from east to southwest. The tracks of the former Missouri-Illinois Railroad including the connecting curve have now been dismantled.
According to the 2010 United States Census Bureau , Nashville has a total area of 7.28 km 2 , of which 7.04 km 2 (or 96.83%) is land and 0.23 km 2 (or 3.17%) There are no bodies of water.
Nashville is not far from the source of Nashville Creek , a tributary of the Little Crooked Creek flowing in a northwest direction to the Kaskaskia River . Directly southeast of Nashville is the headwaters of Beaucoup Creek , which flows south to the Big Muddy River .

Nashville was categorized under the name New Nashville in 1830; The place was founded by three men who named it after their hometown Nashville, Tennessee . On October 31, 1831, a post office was set up under the name Nashville.

The Nashville population was 98.73% White , 0.16% Black or African American , 0.13% Native American , 0.38% Asian , 0.10% Pacific Islander , 0.19% said others Belonging to races and 0.32% named two or more races. 0.79% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Nashville were distributed among 1,324 households out of which 31.6% had children under the age of 18. 54.3% of households were married, 10.3% had a female head of household without a husband, and 33.2% were not families. 30.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 17.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.92.
