The Neunerköpfle (also Neunerkopf ) is an 1862  m above sea level. A. Mountain peak in the Allgäu Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The summit rises southeast above the village of Tannheim , on whose boundary it is located, in the Tannheimer Tal . The notch height of the Neunerköpfles is at least 22 meters, its dominance 200 meters, whereby the Vogelhörnle is always the reference mountain .

Origin of name

A first mention in Schmitt's map of southwest Germany as Leinerkopf in 1797 is presumably a misspelling. August Kübler wrote in Volume 29 of the magazine of the German and Austrian Alpine Association in 1898 that the mountain should be called “Neunuhrköpfle” because the sun is over the summit at nine o'clock from the Tannheim district of Höfen.

Hiking trails

  • The hike to the Neunerköpfle over the ascent from Tannheim promises a good all-round view of the other Tannheim mountains and the Allgäu Alps : the Aggenstein and Einstein can be seen to the north . The path is easy to walk in about 2.5 hours.
  • From the summit it is possible to go south on a hiking trail. Either in the area of the Upper Strindenalpe ( 1682  m ) or the Strindenscharte ( 1870  m ) you come across the Saalfelder Höhenweg . This continues below Sulzspitze ( 2084  m ) and Schochenspitze ( 2069  m ) to the Landsberger Hut ( 1810  m ). In the further course the Höhenweg joins the Lahnerscharte ( 1988  m ) with the Jubiläumsweg .

cable railway

An 8- seater gondola runs from Tannheim up to the mountain station of the Neunerköpfles at a good 1790 meters.
