Neuses an der Regnitz is a village in Franconian Switzerland . It belongs to the market town of Eggolsheim and thus to the Forchheim district . The place is located directly on the Regnitz , which was partially expanded to the Main-Danube Canal in the 1960s .
The place name is first documented in 1125 as "Neuses an der Fahr". The name indicates the origin of the place as the new seat on the ferry. The ferry that brought travelers across the Regnitz was replaced at the beginning of the 20th century by the Luitpold Bridge, which was completed in 1910. The Marienkirche was built in 1913. On July 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality, to which the hamlet of Poxstall belonged, was incorporated into the Eggolsheim market as part of the regional reform .
