Niccolò Acciaiuoli (Cardinal)
Niccolò Acciaiuoli (born July 6, 1630 in Florence , † February 25, 1719 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal and bishop .
Life
He came from the Florentine noble family Acciaiouli and was born as the third of ten children of Ottaviano Acciaiuoli and Maria Acciaioli. Other cardinals in the family were his nephew Filippo Acciaiuoli (1700–1766) and Angelo Acciaiuoli (1340–1408).
In Rome he was promoted to Dr. iur and in 1657 he was appointed auditor camerae of the Apostolic Chamber . In the consistory of November 29, 1669 he was by Pope Clement IX. the cardinal appointed, but the following year was only on May 19 by Clement X , the title Diakonie Santi Cosma e Damiano awarded. He then became a papal legate in Ferrara for several years . In 1689 he became cardinal protodeacon and on October 19 he opted for the Santa Maria diaconia in Via Lata . On November 28, he was elevated to cardinal priest of San Callisto . In 1690 he was appointed abbot of the Sant'Angelo monastery in Frigido in Mesoraca .
On 28 September 1693 he was appointed cardinal bishop of Frascati charged and received on 8 November 1693 by Cardinal Francesco Nerli the younger with the assistance of the Latin Patriarch of Antioch Michelangelo Mattei and Lorenzo Corsini , who later became Pope Clement XII., The episcopal ordination . On December 5, 1700 he became cardinal subdean and cardinal bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina and on March 18, 1715 dean of the Holy College , cardinal bishop of Ostia e Velletri and governor of Velletri . In 1717 he became secretary of the Congregatio Romanae et universalis Inquisitionis ( Inquisition ).
He died on February 25, 1719 and was buried in the Certosa di Firenze . The church was built on behalf of a relative of the same name from the 14th century. Cardinal Angelo Acciaioli was already resting here .
