Mesoraca is a southern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6228 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Crotone in Calabria . The municipality is located about 29 kilometers west of Crotone in the Sila Piccola . It borders directly on the province of Catanzaro .
history
When the area was still settled by Greeks in the fifth century BC, the place was called Mesorachion . A little later it became Mesoreacium under Roman rule .
In 1832 the area was severely damaged by an earthquake.
